Tommy Monroe

December 10, 1928 — June 17, 2007

Clyde-William Tommy Monroe, age 78, of Monroe Lane, died on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County he had resided in Haywood County since 1964. He was the son of Mae Cassida Monroe of Asheville and the late George Monroe. He was a US Navy veteran and owned and operated Waynesville Bicycle and Key Shop before his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 5202 and enjoyed fishing and helping people in need. He attended Clyde Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Eugenia Davis Monroe; one daughter, Rebecca West and her husband, Roger, of Troutman, NC; one son, Paul Monroe and his wife, Marsha, of Candler; three sisters, Judy Morgan of Asheville, Jancie Daily, of Travelers Rest, SC, and Jeannie Isaacs of Candler; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Adam Monroe. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Perry Hines and Reverend Richard Warren officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
