Sharon Rathbone

June 1, 1952 — April 7, 2008

Clyde, Sharon Lee McDaniel Rathbone, age 55, of Cale Way, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 7, 2008 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Viola Franklin McDaniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David McDaniel and two sisters, Betty Haney and an infant sister, Mary Ann McDaniel. Her pride and joy was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and going to yard sales. She was a member of Crabtree Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Johnny Rathbone; Johnny Edward Rathbone and his fiancé, Lisa Marsh, of Waynesville and Matthew Rathbone and his wife, Jessica, of Cullowhee; one daughter, Shannon McElroy and her husband, Sam, of Waynesville; two sisters, Jackie Browning, of Raleigh and Joan Greenman and her husband, Bill, of Columbian, SC; one brother, Charles McDaniel and his wife, Dorothy, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael McElroy, Jonathon and Zackary Rathbone, and Taylor Arnold; and a special friend, Mildred Rathbone; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Crabtree Baptist Church with Reverend Gene King and Reverend Dewayne Rathbone officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
