Ruth Liford

Ruth Liford "1938-2014" Canton – Anna Ruth Liford, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Leona Cowan Liford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Liford. Ruth was a special lady and one who had many talents. Throughout her life, she was a voracious reader, enjoyed working in her flowers, loved the mountains of Western North Carolina and especially visiting Cataloochee and the elk. She enjoyed traveling and trips to the beach as well as bluegrass music and was particularly fond of Balsam Range. Ruth will also be remembered for her delicious cooking and above all the love she displayed to her family. She is survived by her companion of 40 years, Mark West; one daughter, Paige Liford Davis and her husband, John, of Arden; five sisters, Gladys Hill of Jasper, Florida, Carolyn Rudisill and her husband, Mike and Juanita Hall and her husband, Ernest, all of Canton, Anita Scott and her husband, Billy Joe, of Mosheim, Tennessee, and Wanda Goodson of Canton; one brother, Don Liford and his wife, Hattie, of Canton; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Brenda McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
