Robert Hyatt

Canton - Robert "Bob" Richard Hyatt, age 77, died Sunday, April 01, 2007 at Brian Center of Weaverville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late William Weaver and Winnie Long Hyatt. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Bill Hyatt and three sisters, Mamie Fore, Iva West, and Mary Cox. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville where he was active with the Wednesday night dinner crew. He retired from Champion International with 30 years of service and was a United States Navy veteran serving on the USS Coral Sea. Bob was active with Meals on Wheels and he loved the mountains of North Carolina. He is survived by two brothers, Joe Hyatt and his wife, Dorothy, of Clyde, and J.N. Hyatt and his wife, Nancy, of Waynesville; one sister, Doris Hyatt Jamison and her husband, George, of Covington, VA and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. W. Lynn Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Haywood County Meals on Wheels, 486 East Marshall Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
