Robert Henson

Canton - Robert Lee "R. L." Henson, age 54, of Burnette Cove Road died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Ira Lee "Monk" and Betty Lucille Kuykendall Henson. He was an employee of Springdale Country Club and a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church. He was an avid race fan, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many who knew him. In addition to his wife of 12 years, Grovina Clevenger Henson of Canton, he is survived by two daughters, Tammy J. Henson and Autumn M. Henson both of Canton; a son, John M. Michal, V "Mikie" Henson of Canton; four sisters and their husbands, Betty and Phillip Inman and Mary and Bill Cogburn all of Clyde, Phyllis and LTC William Sellen of Cape San Blas, FL and JoAnn and Clifford Ruff of Hazelwood; two grandchildren, Cody D. Davis and Makayla E. Wood and a life-long friend, Floppy Clark. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Burnette Cove Baptist Church with the Reverends Barry Clark, Elijah Fish and Bud Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton. Co-workers from Springdale Country Club will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Cruso Fire Department & First Responders, c/o Clarence Morrow, 73 Sharpmountain Road, Canton, NC 28716
