Robert Palen

Robert Clifton "Cliff" Palen, age 42, of Julia Lane, Maggie Valley, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and survived by his parents, Robert G. Palen of Franklin and Henrietta King Palen of Clyde. Cliff is also survived by his fiancé, Jennifer Cordevant of Maggie Valley; two sons, Robert Thomas Palen and Nick Cordevant of Maggie Valley; a daughter, Tess Cordevant of Maggie Valley; a sister, Geri Ramsey and her husband, J.W., of Waynesville; maternal grandmother, Ruby Buchanan King of Canton; two uncles, Stanley King of Canton and Thomas King of Thomasville; and two nephews, Chris and Shane Palen of Waynesville. Cliff was a devoted son and father whose love was always his family. Among his many interests he enjoyed the outdoors, especially cooking out. He was an avid Nascar fan and Pisgah Bears football was always dear to him, having played there in High School and graduated in 1982. Cliff was also a 1984 graduate of Haywood Community College and a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Canton with the Reverend Doug Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
