Robert Green

Robert Arthur Green, age 94, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Silver Bluff Village. A native of East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Arthur James and Helen Pearl Funk Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Normalea Thornton; and a grandson, David Sawvell. Robert was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a resident of Florida for 51 years prior to moving to Haywood County. Robert was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Leesburg, Florida, but has attended the First United Methodist Church in Waynesville, since moving here in 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Leah Sawvell and her husband, Steve, of Canton; and Doris Isted and her husband, Ray, of Leesburg, FL; one sister, Violet of St. Petersburg, FL; one granddaughter, Jennifer Leichssenring; and four great-grandchildren, Tristan, Emma, and Wesley Leichssenring, and Madelyne Sawvell of Longwood, Florida. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville in the Faith Classroom.
