Ray Gillett

September 12, 1930 — December 23, 2004

Clyde-Ray Gillett, age 74, of Timber Ridge Apartments, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Crawford and Pearl Thomason Gillett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arthur and George Gillett and 2 sisters, Nellie Harkins and Nora Lee Vaincourt. He was a member of East Canton Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Gillett was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean conflict. He is survived by one brother J. R. Gillett of Chesapeake Bay, VA and one sister Gertrude Karriker of Canton. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004 at East Canton Baptist Church with Reverend Willett officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716 or to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
