Paul Rogers

Waynesville, Paul Rogers, age 82, of 34 Club View Drive, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Cauley and Ruth Ann Ferguson Rogers. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Rogers and four sisters, Pauline Clement, Edith Ferguson, Bly Cathey, and Mary Davis. He retired in 1986 after 33 years employment with Biltmore Dairy Farms and was a member of James Chapel Baptist Church. Paul was an avid Carolina Tarheels fan and also enjoyed going camping. Above all, he was devoted to his family whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Jean Rogers; one son, Ronald P. Rogers and his wife, Nancy; one grandson, Andy Rogers; and one brother, Bill Rogers, all of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles, David, and Brian Rogers, Dennis Mull, Brian Noland, and Denton Ashe. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
