Nora White

September 8, 1924 — November 1, 2014

Lake Junaluska, Nora Elizabeth White, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Greenwood County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Calvin and Ella Mae Talbert White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walling White, who passed away in 2004. Upon graduating from Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina, Nora attended Northern Illinois University receiving her Masters Degree in Child Development. She later taught child development courses at Northern Illinois University and concluded her teaching at Kishwaukee College. Nora was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville and was active in several church groups. She is survived by four sons, Ronald Calvin White of Lake Junaluska, Robert Laurence White and his wife, Nancy, of North Augusta, South Carolina, David Benjamin White of Clemson, South Carolina and William Eric White of Greenville, South Carolina; a brother, Harvey T. White of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday November 7, 2014 at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood, South Carolina. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
