Mary Shuler

November 25, 1930 — June 18, 2004

Waynesville-Mary Sue Rector Shuler, age 73, of 30 Club Knoll Avenue, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she is the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Zellie Pardue Rector. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Jack, Ray, and James Rector and a sister, Willie Mae Rector Clark. She was a former employee of Champion Papers and a member of Barberville Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and part-time treasurer. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Luther L. Shuler; a son, Chris Shuler, and his wife, Angie, of Maggie Valley; a brother, Fred Rector, and his wife, Betty, of Candler; two grandsons, Jared and Joshua Shuler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2004 at Barberville Baptist Church with Reverend G.W. Jameson and Reverend Ned Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be Barberville Baptist Church, 1441 Russ Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786 and Maggie Valley First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 309, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
