Mary Jones

Canton- Mary Grogan Jones, age 90 of 63 Wilson Branch Road in the Henson Cove Community died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Asa and Effie Queen Grogan. She was the wife of the late Wallace Jones who died in 1989. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker, an avid quilter and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma Thomason of Bogart, Ga. and Barbara Shepard of Canton; one son, Richard "Dickie" Jones of Canton; one foster son, Kenneth Jones of Canton; one sister, Geraldine Pace of Moore, S.C.; two brothers, Howard Grogan of Canton and Wayne Grogan of Winterhaven, FL.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Springhill Baptist Church with Reverend Stacy Hightower and Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services in Canton.

The family requests that memorials be made to Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1918 Murray Road, Canton, NC 28716.
