Marie Arrington

Sylva, Marie Arrington, age 94, of Brickfarm Road, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at MedWest Harris Regional Medical Center. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene K. and Elizabeth Freshour Trent and was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Arrington, who died in 1991; a grandson, Michael D. Arrington; four sisters, Edna Conner, Christine Frisbee, and Ruth and Jean Trent; and four brothers, Albert, Henry, John, and Jimmy Trent. Marie was a former employee of Clinchfield Manufacturing in Marion, and later worked in Waynesville at Young's Shoe Store as a manager and John Graham's Department Store. She was a member of Clinchfield Baptist Church in Marion and Barberville Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen "Cookie" Grindstaff and her husband, Harold, of Marion; one son, Paul Dean Arrington and his wife, Leona, of Waynesville;two sisters, Melba Halford and Madge Gaddis, and her husband, Ken, all of Marion, two grandchildren, Rod Arrington of Washingtonville, New York and Mark Lavender of Apex, North Carolina; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend J.D. Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph, Rod, Matthew, and Eugene Arrington, Mark Lavender, Joe Clark, and Kenneth Rector. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
