Margaret Wunderle

Waynesville, Margaret Wunderle, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Born on May 19, 1913, she was a former resident of New Brunswick, NJ and Stuart, FL and had lived in Waynesville with her daughter since 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Wunderle. She was a member of the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick, NJ, the church her grandparents founded. Margaret in her youth was an accomplished gymnast and active in amateur theatre. Her passion for music and dance remained throughout her life. She was a national competitive ballroom dancer in the pro-am division until 2004 and first place winner in the 60 Year Old and Older Group at the Heritage Dance Competition, Grove Park Inn, Asheville. She continued to dance with her professional partner at Angie's Dance Academy in Clyde where her last dance was on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. She is survived by one daughter, Barbi Bennett and her husband, John, of Waynesville; two sons, Carl Wunderle and his wife, Debbie, of Newan, GA and Emil Wunderle and his wife, Leslie, of Anchorage, AK; one sister, Charlotte Reid Swansboro, NC; one brother, Paul Puskas and his wife, Phyllis, of Cape Cod, RI; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In memory of Margaret, a scholarship is being established at Angie's Dance Academy to financially assist young people pursuing the dance experience.
