Louise Davis

Waynesville, Sara Louise Swayngim Davis, age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Francis and Jimmie Beatrice Moody Swayngim. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward "Jim" Davis, who died in 2011; a son, James Wiley Davis; and three sisters, Dot Norris, Jane Williamson, and Margaret Tate. Louise was an active member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church serving as a Sunday-School teacher, superintendent, and long-standing member of the choir. She also was active in the United Methodist Women's Group and held several other positions at her church. She enjoyed sewing, camping, and horseback riding. Louise is survived by one daughter, Cindy Davis-Mumma and husband, Randy, and a son, Raymond Edward Davis and his wife, Julie, all of Waynesville; one brother, Joseph Swayngim and his wife, Katherin, of Gaffney, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Laurie Munoz, Jim E. Davis, II, Jennifer Durrett and her husband, Mark, Vinson Davis and Jessalyn Smith; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend David W. Childers and Reverend Tom Hunter officiating. A eulogy will be delivered by Mike Williamson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be given to Meals-on-Wheels, 157 Paragon Parkway, Suite 300, Clyde, NC 28721.
