Louise Franklin

Iron Duff-Mary Louise Henson Franklin, "Nannie", 95, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2004. Born December 28, 1908 in the Jonathan Creek area, she was the daughter of Will and Emma Putnam Henson. Louise was the last surviving member of a large family. She was the wife of Hardy R. Franklin, who died in 1962. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Cash Franklin. Louise was a member of Davis Chapel United Methodist Church, and she loved to travel, garden, sew, and was well known as a wonderful cook. She was proud of the fact that she lived alone. She is survived by two daughters, Hazel F. Robertson and her husband, George R. of Canton, and Dare F. McClure and her husband, Joe, of Iron Duff; two daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Peggy Franklin and Mrs. Frances Franklin. She was very proud of her ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Tim McConnell and Reverend Paul Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service and at other times, the family will be at the home of Dare McClure, 1132 Iron Duff Road. Flowers will be appreciated and memorials may be made to Davis Chapel United Methodist Church.
