Lois Patterson

June 19, 1918 — September 27, 2007

Waynesville, NC-Lois E. Patterson, age 89, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at her residence. A native of Covington, Kentucky, she had resided in Haywood County, NC since 2001. She was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Lois Hogg Ector. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Merle Culpepper Patterson who died in 1988 and one son, Charles Thomas Patterson. Lois earned her Masters Degree from Atlanta University and retired as supervisor in Child Protective Services for Dekalb County, Georgia. She was a member of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. As a pastor's wife, she was devoted to serving in her community and was a member of her church choir. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by two daughters, Julie P. Ishihara and her husband, Glenn, of Bellingham, WA, and Sarah P. Scott of Napa, CA; a son, G. Roger Patterson and his wife, Donna, of Waynesville; twelve grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Creasman, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service and at other times at the home of her son, 163 Sylvan Street, Waynesville. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
