Lester Bryson

Lester Bryson, age 71, of 193 Shady Brook Road, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Clyde and Isabella Bryson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ora Jane Jones Bryson, who died in 2005; a son, Darryl Bryson; and two brothers, Clifford Bryson and Hoyle Singleton. He retired from Champion International in 1996 with more than twenty years of service. He was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church and was a United States Marine veteran serving in Korea as a machine gunner. Lester loved hunting, fishing, and working with wood crafts, especially bird houses. He is survived by his wife of one year, Ruby Bryson; three sons, Daniel Bryson and his fiancée, Kathy Blasingame, of Canton, Doyce Bryson and his wife, Linda, of Canton, and David Bryson and his wife, Janet, of New Bern; a stepson, Mike Stamey and his wife, Eva, of Canton; a sister, Ruby Reece of Canton; a brother, William Bryson of Sylva; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Bryson, David Ebright, Jessica Bryson, Philip Bryson and Jondavid Waid. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson, Reverend Doug Henson, and Reverend Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 483 Sunset Circle, Canton, NC 28716.
