Junior Ledford

Junior Ledford, age 85, of the Fines Creek Community, died July 5, 2010 at Ann B. Davis Rest Home. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Theodore C. (T.C.) and Reva Bolden Ledford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Birdie Ledford; a brother, Fred Ledford; and two sisters, Lucy Ledford and Laura Beaver. Junior was a United States Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. He retired from the Newport News Shipyard in 1987 with 37 years of service as an electrician. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lane and Donald Messer of Clyde; two grandchildren, Stephanie Lowe and her husband, Kirk, of Pittsburgh, PA and Sarah Messer and her husband, Lloyd, of Clyde; one great-grandson, Jacob Lowe of Pittsburgh, PA; one brother, Joseph Daw Ledford and his wife, Betty, of Oklahoma City, OK; and three sisters, Martha Greene and her husband, Frank, of Clyde, Ann Hiter of Niles, MI, and Frona Ledford of Clyde. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend David Christy officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton. Pallbearers will be Billy, Gary, and David Greene, Denzil Haynes, Lloyd Messer, and Kirk Lowe.
