Josephine Cunningham

April 13, 1927 — September 10, 2006

Waynesville-Josephine Cunningham, age 79, of 235 Park Drive, died on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Edward and Lura Mae Davis Reece. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rob and Jack Reece and two sisters, Margaret Chambers and Willlie Grooms. Josephine was employed by Wellco for eleven years and retired in 1974. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Cunningham; three sons, Ronnie Cunningham and wife, Revonda, and Thomas and Robert Cunningham; three sisters, Edna Ruff, Wilsie Green, and Betty Ann Birchfield; two grandchildren, Mistie and Richie Cunningham; and close friends, Devon and Alyssa Teaster and Dan and Alice Stevens, all of Waynesville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Swanger and Reverend Harry Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of Ronnie Cunningham, 153 Hideaway Lane, Waynesville.
