Jonas Conard

Waynesville, Jonas Conard, age 61, of Zurich Lane, passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Loyd and Polly Finny Conard and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Woody and Mary Climbingbear and one brother, Hoover Conard. Jonas loved spending summer evenings at Canton's "Picking in the Park" listening to bluegrass music. He won second place in the Popcorn Sutton Look-a-Like Contest in Maggie Valley in 2011. He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Hudgens, of Waynesville; two sons, James and Shawn Conard, of Belton, South Carolina; two step-sons, Kevin and Roger Brown, also of Belton; three sisters, Ester Rathbone, Margie Gibson, and Lula Rhodarmer, all of Waynesville; two brothers, William Bud and David Ike Conard, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Britany and Kristin Hudgens and Jaleha and Jessie Conard; two stepchildren, Austin and Kinsleigh Brown; and one great grandson, Christopher "Rooster" Osorio. A private family service is planned.
