Jim Horne

Waynesville-Jim Horne, age 74, of Lester Lane, died Sunday, May 08, 2005 at his residence. A native of Bladen County, NC, he had resided in Haywood County for over 41 years and was the son of the late James M. and Hallie Harden Horne. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Horne, and a sister, Flossie McWhorter. He retired in 1990 from Dayco, Inc. with 17 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Dellwood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margie Price Horne; two daughters, Barbara Rathbone and her husband, Sherman, of Lexington, NC, Sharon Kight and her husband, Bob, of Jackson, OH; a son, Darrell Mathis, and his wife, Sheila, of Waynesville; a sister, Mildred Lawrence, of Chicago, IL; five brothers, Grady Horne, of Lumberton, NC, J.D. and Frank Horne, of Fair Bluff, NC, Ray Horne, of Fairmont, NC and Gene Horne, of Orrum, NC; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, the 5th floor of the Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, and Catherine Kirkpatrick and Margaret Woody. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Jason Ledford, Reverend G.W. Jameson and Reverend Carl Chastain officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times, at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be, Bently Messer, Will Jones, Steve Phillips, Steve Ledford, Ricky Boyd, Brody Ferguson, Brad Williams, and Jimmy and Bobby Horne. Honorary pallbearers will be J.C. Ledford, Phil James, Dr. George Brown, and Jerry Owen. Memorials may be given to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
