Jim Harding

October 3, 1948 — July 22, 2009

Jim Harding, age 60, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Charles George VA Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the son of Gertrude Wilson Harding of Candler and the late James C. Harding, Sr. He was employed by Blue Ridge Paper for 32 years and was a United States Army veteran. Jim was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and head of the media team, which he founded. He was very active in other areas of the church as well and loved working with computers and was an avid golfer. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jerri Blythe Harding; a son, James Kevin Harding of Candler; two sisters, Annette Brown and her husband, Alan, of Morganton and Linda Harding of Candler; a brother, Joe Harding and his wife, Mary, of Candler; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gerald and Trixie Haney Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to Pole Creek Baptist Church Climbing Higher Fund`, 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.
