Jane Wood

August 7, 1925 — January 8, 2010

Waynesville, Jane Wood, age 84, of Killian St., died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Autumn Care. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, and was the daughter of the late Mige and Vinnie Conard Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Willie Dee Wood, three sisters, Bonnie, Lottie and Viola and two brothers, Lewis and Lawrence. Jane was employed by Smith Drugs for 27 years as a waitress and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She loved working in her flower garden. She is survived by one daughter, Clara Hyatt and her husband Ronald of Waynesville; one sister, Katherine McFalls of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Michelle Chandler and her husband Chris and Tim Hyatt, all of Waynesville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Allens Creek Baptist Church. Reverend Eddie Deitz will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris and Tommy Chandler, Ricky Pendergrass, Jamie Woods, Johnny Elliott and Jim McFalls. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Allens Creek Baptist Church, 549 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
