James Edwards

September 18, 1924 — March 20, 2007

Waynesville-James Kenneth Edward, age 82, of Hazelwood Avenue, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James "Jim" and Mattie Gibson Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Edwards, a sister, Edna Parker, and two brothers, Harry and Lee Edwards. He was a building contractor and a member of Maggie Valley First Baptist Church. He was a past master of Waynesville Masonic Lodge No. 259 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth "Honey" Bradley Edwards, two sons, Bill Edwards, and his wife, Bette, and Steve Edwards and his wife, Linda, all of Waynesville; four brothers, Roy Edwards of Waynesville, Joe Edwards of Canton, and Jack Edwards and Frank Edwards, both of Balsam Grove; four grandchildren, Derek, Adrian, Lori, and Rusty; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with James Hugh Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug, Dwain, Ralph, and Ray Edwards, and Stan and Terry Fortner. Honorary pallbearer will be Zach Noland. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
