James Morgan

June 30, 1933 — August 9, 2004

Waynesville-James Clifton Morgan, age 71, of Plott Creek Road, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Jackson County and lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Jason W. and Ester Cope Morgan. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Bumgarner. He retired from the maintenance department of the Blue Ridge Parkway Service in 1998 with 18 years of service. He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and loved Blue Grass music and playing his banjo. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ollie Mae Jenkins Morgan; two sons, Larry and Garry Morgan, both of Waynesville; two brothers, Clyde Morgan of Sylva, and Roy and his wife, Diana, of Darrington, Washington; four grandchildren, Jamie, Kasey and Ben Morgan all of Waynesville, and Coy Morgan of Greensboro. Two great-grandchildren, Makela Taylor and Trevor Kaslis of Waynesville. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2004 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence. The men of the adult Sunday School class will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 47 and th V.F.W. Post 5202.
