Jack Palmer

Maggie Valley- Jack Palmer, 69, of 244 Summer Drive, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Lakeland, FL and resided in Haywood County for the past nine years, son of the late James and Lena Bush Palmer. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Emmett and Tommy Palmer. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was very active in mission work and volunteered at The Open Door, Meals on Wheels, senior adult programs and enjoyed woodworking. If there was a need, you would find Jack taking every opportunity to meet it. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Catharine Palmer; two daughters, Karen Palmer, of Lakeland, FL; Kathryn Palmer, of Elkhart, IN; two sons, Joseph Palmer, Jr.; Greg Palmer, and his wife, Joani, all of Lakeland, FL; one stepdaughter, Andrea Martin, and her husband, Reverend Keith Martin, of Chancellor, AL;one stepson, Chuck Smith, and his wife, Betsy, of Ft. Myers, FL; two sisters, Margaret Hardie, of Lakeland, FL, Bobbi Jones, of Blakely, GA; one brother, Charles Ray Palmer, of Bonita Springs, FL; ten grandchildren, Da'ira, Roemello, Joseph and Harold Moon IV; Michael Walker and his wife, Jenny; Chris Walker and his wife, Carrie; Shawn and Kyle Palmer, Anthony and Michele Palmer; three step grandchildren, Hunter Smith; Justin Martin, and his wife, Chandra; Katie Bond, and her husband, Alan; three great-grandchildren, Michael and Bryce Walker; Madison Palmer; two step great grandchildren, Madelyn Martin and John David Bond. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
