Jack Norris

May 29, 1925 — December 16, 2010

Waynesville, Jack Norris, age 85, of 1268 County Road, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Arthur Carl and Edna Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Norris, who passed away in 1995 and a sister, Hilda Arrington. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Jack retired from Champion Paper Company in Pasadena, Texas and later spent many cherished years as an employee of Wal-Mart and was an avid reader of Western novels. He is survived by one brother, Bobby Norris an his wife, Lorraine, of Catawba, South Carolina; a sister, Geraldine Wilson, of Matthews, North Carolina; his uncle and aunt, Theodore and Martha Gant, of Canton; a special friend, Tootsie Shiell, of Maggie Valley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Minister Steve Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Fulright Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to services.
