Hershell Bradley

Waynesville, Hershell Bradley, age 86, of Valley View Circle, died on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William and Mary Cook Bradley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Conard Bradley, who died in 1996; two sisters, Nellie Arrington and Eunice Clark; and eight brothers, Arvil, Lloyd, Ernest, Earl, Robert, Millard, Jackson, and R.V. Bradley. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a truck driver for W.C. Hennesse. He enjoyed fishing and was an enjoyable storyteller and a member of Grandview Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 5202. He is survived by one daughter, Mary (Jo) Bradley Mease and her special friend, Larry Boone, of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson, Reverend Tony Sisk, Jr., Reverend J.D. Grant, and Reverend Kevin Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with military services conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Dyson, Jeff Reece, Albert Allen, James Cook, Gene Arrington, Harold Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Talman, Tom Mills, Arvil Balding, and Loye Trantham. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until Noon on Wednesday prior to the service. The family wishes to thank friends, family, the ICU staff, Dr. John Lafata, and Dr. Harry Lipham for their care during Hershell's illness.
