Hazel Bryson

Waynesville-Hazel Wilson Bryson, age 98, formerly of 174 Welch Street, died Friday, October 29, 2004. A native of Jackson County, she had lived in Haywood County for the past 38 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred R. Bryson, who died in 1988 and two brothers, George and Warren Cochran. She was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed canning, gardening, and her flowers. She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Marcus, and her husband, David, of Waynesville; two step-daughters, Mary Scott, of Austin, TX and Hiawatha Lesley of Ocala, FL; two sisters, Delsie and Bessie Cabe, both of Sylva; two grandsons, Tony Moody of Waynesville and Richie Marcus of Clyde; and three great grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Wesleyanna Cemetery in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Haynes, Scott Guge, Bruce Crawford, Randy Best, Jerry McFall, and Bill Glance. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, 542 Iron Duff Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
