Harold Duckett

August 15, 1920 — September 2, 2012

James Harold Duckett, age 92, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late James Harrison and Lassie Lee Duckett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Everhart Duckett, who died in 1985; two brothers, John J. and Gene Ellis Duckett; and a half-brother, Randall Duckett. He retired from Champion International with 40 years of service and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. Harold was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed woodworking. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in World War II and an active member and officer of the Varner Rhinehart American Legion Post #61. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Nanney and her husband, Charlie, of Canton and Nancy Cochran and her husband, David, of Cary, NC; two brothers, Max Harrison and Jimmy Lee Duckett; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dustin James officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
