Hal Mccracken

"1935 – 2014" Clyde – Marvin Howell "Hal" McCracken, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Roy D and Lucy Hipps McCracken. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Virgil McCracken. Hal was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company, with 35 years of service. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle, clogging, going to the lake, and loved watching ball games. Hal was also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Darren McCracken and his wife, Pam, of Clyde, and Devin McCracken and his wife, Kristi, of Canton; his ex-wife, Glenda Beasley McCracken; one sister, Dorothy Ross and her husband, Taylor of Waynesville; one brother, Bobby McCracken of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Dalton, Taylor, Maceon, and Clayton McCracken. A special thanks to his caregiver and niece, Judy Green. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ted Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clyde Lions Club, P.O. Box 303, Clyde, NC 28721.
