Gladys Hipps

August 19, 1929 — July 27, 2007

Gladys Hipps, age 77, of the Beaverdam Community died unexpectedly Friday, July 27, 2007, at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter late Willie Z. and Inis Worley Mann. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neal Bennett Hipps who died in 1979 and three sons, David Neal, Eric Lynn and Marvin Lane Hipps. She was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church. She was a manager in food service for many years and an associate at Wal-Mart for the last year. Gladys loved her family dearly. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Stockton of Candler; a son, Bennett Hipps of Canton; two sisters, Wanda Parham and Grace Carines both of Canton; two brothers, Marvin Mann of TN and Tom Mann of Canton; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason, Nathan, Joey, and Casey Lee Hipps, Chris and Chad Stockton, Jay Bailey and Mitch Nelson.
