Gertrude Gaddy

October 7, 1924 — August 22, 2003

Waynesville-Gertrude Gaddy, age 78, formerly of Waynesville, died, Friday, August 22, 2003 at her son's home in Horseshoe, NC.

She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of Wilma Massie Medford of Clyde, formerly of Waynesville, and the late Larry Medford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William ''Bill'' Gaddy, a son William Gaddy, Jr., two brothers, Charles and Everett Medford, and a sister, Edna Suttles.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Michael Gaddy and his wife, Phyllis of Horseshoe and George Gaddy of Waynesville; two brothers, Roy Gene Medford of Balsam and Lonnie Medford of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Kenneth Gaddy and his wife Criston and Amanda Medford and her husband Scotty; four great grandchildren, Brice Gaddy, Nathan, Chris, and Andrew Medford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2003 at Rocky Face Baptist Church. The Reverend Donnie Henson and Reverend David A. Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. At other times the family will be at the home of Amanda Medford, 100 Eclipse Estate, Bethel Community.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Four Seasons Hospice, P.O. Box 2395, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
