Geneva Pruett

Waynesville, Bertha Geneva Moody Pruett, age 87, of 105 Stonewall Way, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Horas Reuben and Ollie Howell Moody. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Earnest Pruett, who died in 1968; two daughters, Sandra "Sandy" Pruett and Shirley Pruett Mills; one sister, Ruby Taylor; and four brothers, Charlie, Ralph, Ed, and Fred Moody. She was employed at Welco and Silco. Geneva enjoyed teaching Sunday School for 15 years at Allens Creek Baptist Church where she was a member and part of the No. 4 Ladies Class. She also liked to crochet, sew, work puzzles, and read and loved to work in her beautiful garden. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Wright and her husband, Bud, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Lynnette, Jason, and Travis Wright, Reneé Henson, and Charles Mills; three great grandchildren, Ashley and Elijah Wright and Brittany Henson; and one great grandchild, Lucas Isaah Ketchin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Allen Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Allens Creek Baptist Church General Fund, 549 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
