Frank Green

Fines Creek, Loften Frank Green, age 93, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Robert Wilburn and Reva Bennett Green. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ferguson; two brothers, Henry and Mark Green; and a nephew, Hubert Ferguson. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church where he served as trustee of the church cemetery. He was an extremely hard worker and was a dedicated farmer with an amazing work ethic. He enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and loved canning, and cooking for his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his goodness and how much he loved his family. He is survived by two sisters, Faye Swanger of the Fines Creek Community and Blanche Swanger of Atlanta, Georgia; one niece, Reva Hudson and her husband, Joe, of the Fines Creek community; and nephews, Robert Green and his wife, Janet, Darwin Ferguson and his wife, Glenda, Mark Swanger and his wife, Susan, and Austin Swanger and his wife, Kathy, all of the Fines Creek Community, Loften Swanger and his wife, Lynn, of Atlanta, Frank Green and his wife, Angie, of Staten Island, New York, and Bob Swanger and his wife, Peggy, of New Jersey; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the church.
