Frank Chambers

Waynesville, Frank Edwin Chambers, age 75, of the Ironduff Community, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Samuel Weaver and Bernice Bryson Chambers. Frank retired from Wellco Corporation with over 40 years of service. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and North Carolina Tar Heel basketball. One of the highlights of his life was watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea from 1955 to 1956 after the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise McBride Chambers; a son, Phillip Edwin Chambers and his wife, Diana of the Ironduff Community; a daughter, Lee Anna Haney and her husband, Marty of Hendersonville; four grandchildren, Austin Heath Chambers and Adam Chambers of Waynesville and Lance and Breanna Haney of Hendersonville and a sister, Edith Rogers of Florida. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with his brother-in-law, Reverend Jerry Ensley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin and Adam Chambers, Lance and Marty Haney, Donny Rogers and Kenneth Parks. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jim Bradshaw and Max Rogers. In memory of Frank's love for his grandchildren and his love for high school athletics, the family requests that memorials be made to Tuscola High School Athletic Program, 564 Tuscola School Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 or North Henderson High School Athletic Department, 35 Fruitland Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
