Frances Henson

Candler-Frances Chambers Henson, age 56 of 9 Southern Magnolia Lane, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

She was a native of Haywood County and had lived in Buncombe most of her life. She was a daughter of Mable Murray Chambers of Candler and the late Elton Agustus Chambers. She retired from American Enka with 30 years of service in 2000. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 5 years, Fred W. Henson, one daughter, Kelly Greenlee of Damascus, Ark, one step-son, Jonathan Henson of Sylva, four sisters, Kathryn Crawford of Cruso, Ellene Metcalf of Candler, Janet Evans of Maggie Valley and Reva Granati of India Atlantic, FL, 3 grandchildren; Brandy and Kammie Sweeten and Lacy Claunch, all of Damascus, Ark and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Jack W. Collins and Reverend Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home, 9 Southern Magnolia Lane, Candler, NC 28715. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Henson, Doug Crawford, Ronnie Metcalf, Andrew and Ashley McArthur and John Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Shay Henson.
