Evelyn Green

October 1, 1920 — October 25, 2007

Waynesville-Evelyn Swanger Green, age 87, of 420 Thomas Park, went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2007. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Arlie and Daisy Ashe Swanger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William McKinley Green, Jr., who died in 2004 and three sisters, Edna Browning, Christine Lokerson, and Velma Mears. She was a former employee at Belk-Hudsons and the Red Wing Gift Shop and also operated The Lodge at Lake Logan for Champion International. Evelyn was an active member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church where she was a member of Circle One. She is survived by three brother-in-laws, Bobby and Horace Green of Lake Junaluska and Tillman Green of Canton; several nieces and nephews; and her caregivers, whom she loved very much. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Camp Daniel Boone Council, 333 West Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801 or Hazelwood Presbyterian Church, 368 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
