Dudley Rathbone

Waynesville, Nathaniel Dudley Rathbone, age 76, of Amethyst Trail, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Amos and Mae Ledford Rathbone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Paula Rathbone; a brother, Junior Rathbone and two half-brothers, Milburn and Alfred Price. He retired from Lea Furniture. Dudley loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting with his sons and grandsons. He is survived by two sons, Michael Edward Rathbone of Clyde and Harold Dean Rathbone and his wife, Margaret, of Waynesville; a sister, Minnie Wheeler and husband, Charles, of Canton; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Robertson, Reverend James Robertson and Reverend Ricky Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from until 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
