Dow Hill

October 6, 1930 — October 24, 2005

Waynesville-Dow Hill, age 75, of 467 Oakdale Road, died on Monday, October 24, 2005 at Mission/St. Joseph Healthcare System, St. Joseph Campus in Asheville. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Mattie Roberts Hill Alley and the late Buster Hill. He was employed by Dayco for 29 years having worked in the Plastic Hose Department. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a mason and a member of VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anna Hill; two daughters, Darlene Scott and her husband, Bob, of Boone and Sandy Caldwell of Waynesville; a son, Keith Hill and Lucy Lowe of Mt. Sterling; a sister Pauline Profitt and her husband, David, of New Port, TN; a brother, John Charles Alley, of Carlton, MI; and a grandchild, Kelly Ann Scott. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2005 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Hopkins Cemetery at Mt. Sterling. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Rhymer, Ron Gillett, Greg McDonald, Nease Leatherwood, Ralph Hannah, and Jimmy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe West, Troy Bryson, Buford Farley, and Maury Williams.
