Dorothy Davis

Maggie Valley, Dorothy Jean Davis, age 80, of Caldwell Drive, died on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Born in Pretty Prairie, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Bertha Waltner Krehbiel and was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. She was a librarian for three universities and also a practical nurse. She enjoyed quilting and gardening, but especially loved spending quality time with her family. Dorothy also enjoyed entertaining friends at her home and was active in her church. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Walter Wilson Davis; one son, Douglas Wayne Davis and wife, Cheryl, of Chesapeake, VA; one daughter, Patricia Beth Felder and husband, Richard, of Houston, TX; three sisters, Virginia Kaufman of McPherson, KS, Ruth Goering of Hutchinson, KS, and JoAnne Funk and husband, Francis, of Newton, KS; one brother, Myron Krehbiel and wife, Allie, of Alamo, TX; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, at Life Church with Reverend Paul Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private interment will be at the WNC State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Memorials may be made to the Western Carolina Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 909, Asheville, NC 28802.
