Dillard Miller

February 9, 1931 — May 15, 2004

Waynesville-Dillard "Dick" Miller, age 73 of Mauney Cove Road, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and was the son of the late James and Ella Cutshaw Miller. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Miller, and four sisters, Elsie Sutton, Vinnie Brown, Minnie Crawford, and Allie Greenwood. He was a systems installer in telecommunications. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Barberville Baptist Church and he enjoyed music. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Betty J. Miller; his daughter, Deborah Miller of Columbus, Ohio; his son, Richard Miller and his wife, Rhonda of Denver, Colorado; his step-son, Steve Moore and his wife, Susan of Sevierville, TN; four sisters, Edith Trull of New Jersey, Oma Reid of Columbus, Ohio, Cory Nelson of South Carolina, and Frances Geilman of Taylorsville, NC; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. The Reverend G. W. Jameson will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 5202 and the American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the services, at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to the Open Door Soup Kitchen for the Needy, 32 Commerce Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
