Clyde Lance

Clyde Lance, age 81, of England Road died Saturday, December 6, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William and Rosie Crane Lance. He was also preceded in death by his wife Hazel Hardin Lance, who died in 2007 and a great-grandson, Dalton Bradley. He worked at Chrysler Motor for 30 years and with Clyde's Radiator Service for 25 years. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Clyde loved working on cars with his son, Randy. He enjoyed his garden, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was honorably discharged from the National Guard and was a member of the NRA Foundation for 25 years. He is survived by a son, Randy Lance and his wife, Debra, of Canton; a daughter, Denise Marie Odum and her husband, Joe, of Canton; a sister, Mildred Jamison and her husband, Claude, of Canton; three brothers, Poley Lance and his wife, Louise, J. P. Lance, and Buck Smith and his wife, Linda, all of Canton; five grandchildren, Brad Jones, Clifford Hardy Lance, Kathryn Moody, Kevin Cooley, and Cynthia Henson; and 13 great-grandchildren, Randy Downs, Aubree Lance, Charity Odum, Montana and Savannah Jones, Opal Henson, Eddie Dell Moody, Darian Thomason, Greenly Cooley, Tiffany Bussler, Martin, Austin, and Dylan Lance. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
