Clyde Haynes

April 9, 1933 — May 31, 2014

Clyde, Clyde Haynes, age 81, of Fines Creek, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at The Homestead. He was born in Hurricane Creek, Clyde was the son of the late John Thomas and Pearlie Trantham Haynes and also preceded in death by a son Ricky Haynes; four brothers, Carl, Claude, Haskil and Thurman Haynes; and two sisters, Marie Smith and Pauline Kuhn. Clyde enjoyed picking bluegrass music with his friends. When he wasn't playing music, you could find him fishing or hunting. He was a retired carpenter and also helped to build Interstate 40 through the gorge. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Kirkpatrick Haynes and two daughters, Loretta Haynes, of Fines Creek and Melinda Haynes, of Maggie Valley; a sister, Ruby Haney of Salem, New Jersey; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Keenerville Cemetery in the Spring Creek community. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homestead Hospice, 127 Sunset Ridge, Clyde, NC 28721.
