Charles Gaddis

CHARLES RAY GADDIS

Canton-Charles Ray Gaddis, age 77, Bear Hunter Drive, died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Reverend Robert and Emma Shelton Gaddis. He was employed by Dayco Southern as a security officer for 30 years. He was a member of Richland Baptist Church were he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Pless Gaddis; two stepdaughters, Linda Cathey of Washington DC and Ann Barrier of Nebo, NC; one stepson, Ronnie Dean Cathey of Florida; two sisters, Juanita Maney of Waynesville and Carolyn Goble of Kings Mountain; two brothers, W. Lee Gaddis of Waynesville and Gerald Gaddis of Conover, NC; and three step grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville with Reverend Fred Frady officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason and Matthew Gentry, Steve Maney, Tommy Barrier, and Joseph and Justin Hoglen. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 12:45 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, WNC Chapter, 3 Louisiana Avenue, Asheville, NC 28706.
