Carroll Donaldson

"1928 – 2013" Canton – Alvin Carroll Donaldson, age 84, of the Stamey Cove community, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late James Weaver and Minnie Seagle Donaldson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Mease and Dorothy Huckeby. Carroll will be remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. He was a talented wood craftsman and builder. Carroll retired from Champion International with 38 years of service and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice Neal Donaldson; one daughter, Sandy Reece and her husband, Keith, of Canton; one son, Danny Donaldson and his wife, Shari, of White House, Tennessee; two sisters, Wanda Mohler of Forest City, and "special sister" Darlene Gregg of Canton; four brothers, Harold Donaldson of Canton, Wayne Donaldson of Waynesville, Weaver and Dean Donaldson, both of Canton; two grandchildren, Tammy Donaldson and Anthony Donaldson and his wife, Jill; one great-grandchild, Jacob Payne; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Keith Clark and Matthew Rhea officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to MedWest Haywood Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 1918 Murray Road, Canton, NC 28716.
