Bruce Norman

Waynesville, Robert Bruce Norman, age 72, of Big Cove Road, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida following a brief illness. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Lucille J. Norman and the late Claude Norman. He was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School's Class of 1957 and later served in the National Guard. Bruce was employed at Dayco and co-owned Parkway Electric and Heating in Waynesville and Lower Bell RV Park in Hiawassee, Georgia. He was a former director of Haywood Savings & Loan, Century South Bank, and BBT. Bruce was also an active member of Grandview Baptist Church as well as being a member of Waynesville Masonic Lodge 259, Waynesville Order of Eastern Star, York Rite, and the Oasis Shrine Temple. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jane Davis Norman; a daughter, Claudia Michele "Mickie" Norman and special friend, Jody Green, of Waynesville; a brother, Mike Norman and his wife, Dottie, of Waynesville; special nephew, John Norman; niece and nephew, Tonya and Todd Norman; and great nieces and nephew, Emily Norman and Eli and Sara Woody. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Terry Stockman, Reverend Wayne Willett, and Reverend Ted Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery with graveside Masonic Rites. Serving as pallbearers are Bruce Powell, Dave Blevins, Ken Bailey, Leon Turner, Lloyd Trantham, Scott and Zeb Forga, Eli Woody, Bruce Hipps, Clint Mull, Todd and John Norman, and Bruce Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday-School Class. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at the church and at other times at the home.
