Bonnie Queen

Canton-Bonnie Mae Queen, age 100, formerly of Henson Cove Community, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Otha Andrew and Effie Mease Queen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Mattie Ruth and Anne Ellen Queen. Bonnie was a 1930 graduate of Bethel High School and was Salutatorian of her class. She was employed by American Enka Company and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Bonnie loved the outdoors and enjoyed growing vegetables and canning which she willingly shared with those around her. She is survived by several beloved cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton with Reverend W.O."Bill" Henson and Reverend Keith Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
