Blanche Mehaffey

July 18, 1918 — January 20, 2011

Waynesville, Blanche Parton Caldwell Mehaffey, age 92, of Hemphill community, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Merritt and Hattie Tucker Parton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Caldwell. Blanche retired in 1981 with 27 years service from Dayco Corporation. She is survived by a son, Hugh Caldwell, a daughter, Betty Caldwell McCracken and her husband, Carl all of Waynesville; three sisters, Louise Messer of Waynesville, Betty King of Canton and Margaret James and her husband, Phil, of Waynesville; seven grandchildren; ten great -grandchildren; three great- great- grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Caldwell Cemetery with Reverend Dennis Grahl officiating. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels 486 Marshall Street, Waynesville or Mountain Projects 2251 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville, NC. Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
